The inspiration behind this painting came from the complex estuarine system that exists where the Mary River - which meanders its way through the Fraser Coast where I live - meets the ocean. Coastal river systems are abundant sources of life for plants, animals, and humans alike, and ours is no different. It is a pivotal part of our region (and of my life) and I couldn't help but paint it in the bold, vibrant hues that I love so much.
