The iconic Impressionist artist Claude Monet once said, "Colour is my day-long obsession, joy, and torment". When I first read those words, I felt as though Monet was describing me. I truly am obsessed with colour. I have been since I was a child. I remember walking into the newsagent or supermarket and staring at the coloured pencils, all lined up in rainbow order, and thinking that nothing could ever be more splendid! When I grew older and discovered the art supply store, I was in heaven...paints and pastels in every hue in perfect colourific arrangement...oh my gosh! Colour is one of those things that I can never get enough - it fills my home, my mind, and my artwork. My paint palettes are a constant source of inspiration and one particularly colourful arrangement on my palette recently lead to me capturing it on canvas in this painting.
