Summer seems never-ending here in Queensland, and even though I love it, there are those stretches each year when it is so hot and humid that all you want to do is jump into a cool body of water and never get out. Doesn't this painting make you think of those summer heatwaves, of searing heat where you feel like you are melting, your sweltering skin only tempered by the beautiful cool aqua water of the closest swimming pool or beach? That's what I felt when I painted it, and I am quite in love with the end result. In case you were wondering, I did indeed go swimming as soon as I finished painting it too!
